DuPont money, and a lot of it, is responsible for the impressive Longwood Gardens in Chester county, Pennsylvania. “What God would have built, if he had the money,” as Shaw said about one of Hearst’s estates. We did not have anything like the time to do the site justice, and I was nearly done in by the 100-degree temps and high humidity: but I saw things worthy of remembrance, a few of which I’ll share with you here.
